About
Curtis Wei
Curtis Wei is a Grade 10 student at Collingwood School. Growing up in a family of musicians, he was surrounded by harmony from an early age. Now, as a student of music, he continues to explore his talents, driven by the deep-seated influence of his musical upbringing. Music, as Curtis Wei understands it, transcends the mere arrangement of notes; it is a universal language, a conduit through which emotions find their voice and thoughts take flight.
For him and countless others, music is not simply a sequence of sounds but a profound mode of communication and expression. Though he opts out of traditional art courses, he actively participates in the extracurricular band, where his skills lend depth and resonance to the music. His journey is characterized by an unwavering commitment to his craft. When asked about his inspirations, Curtis claims that he “aims to capture the spectrum of human emotion through music,” and that “each note is a brushstroke on the canvas of life.” Guiding his musical journey are diverse influences drawn from literature and music alike. “Bach's harmonies reveal the balance of the world, Chopin’s melodies paint the colors of romance, and Orwell’s prose provokes introspection.” Each masterpiece serves as a beacon illuminating the transformative power of music. As Curtis continues to explore new musical horizons, he will undoubtedly leave his mark on the canvas of artistic expression.
